At UniPlay we have a creative and innovative team working with schools throughout the UK on their playground projects. Our team specialise in offering playground designs ranging from traditional playground games through to bespoke 3D markings themed around core curriculum subjects.
However, when designing a playground many of the schools we work with ask for our advice on how to integrate educational playground markings based around learning whilst keeping an independent play element to their playground.
Tips for including educational playground markings
Include a variety of markings
When working with any school, we advise to include a diverse range of different marking types within the same area. The styles and colours can match your school’s branding however, the type of games will provide equal opportunities for all pupils to engage with the markings.
Integrate markings based on the curriculum
Many of our bespoke playground designs fulfil different areas of the curriculum for a range of subjects including geography, science, history, and maths. Having markings specifically for different subjects means pupils of all ages can participate in additional, less formal learning outside the classroom.
Utilise bright and engaging colours
For some pupils, continued learning can be overwhelming. However, by creating a playground with diverse markings and bright and engaging colours – many children feel as though they are engaging in play and not developing their learning outside the classroom. With any playground markings, we recommend using creative design techniques to keep pupils of all ages and abilities engaged.
Make learning fun
Our educational playground markings are designed to be both learning and fun focused. We recommend integrating designs such as games, mile tracks, target games, mazes and much more. All of these designs can include an educational element and help your pupils to learn while they play.
