Many of the schools we have worked with struggle to encourage pupils to play outdoors during the winter months. However, lack of activity can see pupils struggling to keep fit throughout the year.
To help you keep your pupils engaged in winter playground activities, we have rounded up 3 top tips for encouraging children to play outdoors, even in the colder months!
Keep your playground safe
During the winter months playgrounds can become hazardous with ice and adverse weather. As part of encouraging pupils to engage in outdoor play, the first step to take is to ensure the playground is safe and fit for purpose. Inspections and gritting are just two examples of how to keep your playground safe for your pupils.
Encourage sports and group games
One of the best ways to increase studentโs activity levels is to include a bit of competition! Creating some group activities or sport competitions during breaktimes where all pupils can take part. Organising these competitions during the winter months at break times can help to encourage children to play outdoors.
Invest in playground markings
Playground markings are a fantastic solution for many schools looking to encourage children to be active during the winter months. Having creative markings installed can help to keep children interested in outdoor play and provide equal opportunities for children to take part in sport.
Our thermoplastic playground markings can be used all year round by your pupils, helping children to engage in active play โ even when the weather isnโt the most appealing! Our in-house team design, manufacture and install our playground markings and keep the entire process simple from start to finish.
We have invested heavily in our equipment and technology to ensure we can continually provide leading services for schools throughout the UK. Our knowledgeable design team can create bespoke playground markings including games, educational markings, mile tracks and much more.
When working on a new project, our team will meet with your team and pupils to discuss their ideas. Our design team then bring these to life and create a unique mock-up of how the playground will look, once this has been approved, we then start our rigorous manufacturing process.
Our DBS-checked installation team then set a date to suit you. As our markings are ready for use within 30 minutes of application, we can fit our installation around your school day. This causes minimal disruption and ensuring your pupils can start to make the most of their new markings as quickly as possible!
Examples of our markings can be found via our website, or if you have a specific design in mind, do not hesitate to get in touch with our team to discuss your requirements.
